Unfortunately, accidents are a big part of a towing company’s business. What happens to vehicles that are involved in crashes? That depends a great deal upon the amount of damage and what steps an insurance company decides to take. Sometimes, a vehicle is deemed too damaged and is written-off and given a salvage title. TNT Towing in Lethbridge sells all kinds of salvaged vehicles—cars, trucks, RVs, ATVs, even motorcycles.

The pros and cons of salvage vehicles: Advice from TNT Towing your Lethbridge towing and salvage company
If you’re in the market for a used car, you may have come across vehicles with a salvage title for sale. What does this mean? Usually a salvage vehicle is one that’s been damaged in an accident. Sometimes the car is declared a write-off; other times, the vehicle may have been repaired but will be issued a salvage title to indicate it’s been damaged. Read on to discover the pros and cons of purchasing a salvage vehicle.
Pros:
- The car may be in great condition, despite being a salvage vehicle. A totalled car may sometimes have only cosmetic damage or minor body damage that can easily be fixed by a skilled auto body mechanic.
- The price is right. You can often purchase a salvage vehicle for far less than what you would normally pay at a dealership for a used vehicle.
- Cheap spare parts. If you’re rebuilding a car, salvage vehicles are often a great place to score spare parts at a great price.
Cons:
- Potential for increased insurance. Many insurance companies are hesitant to provide collision and comprehensive insurance on salvaged vehicles. Be prepared to pay a premium.
- Hidden repairs can add up. It’s up to you to do your research before buying or bidding on a salvage vehicle. Even so, it’s sometimes hard to spot everything and you may not discover issues with your vehicle until long after you’ve driven it off the salvage lot.
- Low resale value. Once a salvage vehicle, always a salvage vehicle. No matter how much time and effort you put into rebuilding it, the value of a salvaged vehicle will always be lower than a comparable model with a clean title.
